{Table} Butterfly Birthday

Last weekend, my little girl turned four.  We were lucky enough to have all of her grandparents here to celebrate her birthday.  There were only fifteen of us all together, so I didn't want to do a huge dessert table, but I wanted there to be enough for everyone to have some variety.

 

We chose a butterfly theme and used pink, white, and touches of green.  I tried to add some unique touches to the table, like the little flowers on top of the ice cream, which were piped in royal icing.

It was such a wonderful day, my daughter loved the table and I had lots of fun putting some of my creative juices to use!

{Table} Black, Silver & a little BLING

A couple of weeks ago, Michelle from Maddycakes Muse contacted me about creating a dessert table for her sister’s 60th birthday here in Vegas.  First of all…Michelle is an AMAZING party planner based out of Glendale, Arizona, and needless to say I was rather intimidated.  She was bringing her sister out here, along with a few family members, to celebrate, and she wanted to have a special dessert table for the big day.  Being from out of town, she didn’t have the recourses to pull one together.  So…she turned to her blog friends and we came to the rescue!! 

Katie Nelson of Sweet Street Cakes made this incredible cake that topped off the table. 

 

Emily helped with the graphic elements on the table and Whitney made the super cute cookie favors.

It was sooo much fun being a part of Jackie’s special night!  Thanks, Michelle, for letting us take part!!

{Dessert Table} Vintage Truck Table

A while ago I hinted about a project that we were working on here at WhipperBerry.  A project that involved yellows and grays, one of my favorite color palettes right now (I bet you couldn’t tell).  It also involved a truck…a BEAUTIFUL truck.  This truck is owned by our friends Max & Christi at the McKee Ranch.  As soon as we saw it we knew we had to create a dessert table just for this truck!

Isn’t it a gem?!!

We got to work.  I was in charge of the concept and overall design.  Whitney made AMAZING cookies…Christene made gorgeous cake skewers and tasty lemon cheesecakes …

 

…Jamie made the beautiful sugared pears, and Emily handmade the leaves for the pears, as well as the pie wrappers…Kristin created the beautiful labels for the table…

…Erin provided the picturesque location at The Secret Garden (she even got us featured on the local news!) …and Jeanna Hayes {our unofficial WhipperChick} took some incredible photos!  All in all, a real team effort.

{Dessert Table} White Table

There’s a lot that goes through my mind when designing a table.  I am constantly changing and tweaking my designs until I feel like it all just “fits”.  I won’t even buy anything until I can visualize the whole table in my mind.

I draw upon the art education I've had quite often.  One of the most important lessons I learned involves making sure that the eye flows properly around the "art work".  Typically there are several ways to accomplish this, but with this table I struggled since every food element on the table was white.  Colors, shades, even the shapes of things are very important in my design process. For example, when I designed my Pea in the Pod table, I not only coordinated the green, white, and accents of yellow, I also incorporated a lot of round elements in the table. It provided further cohesiveness, and visual stimulation.

This all-white dessert table was designed for a 40th Birthday Party.  When designing a monochromatic table, I found that texture was very important to me; it really helped separate the items and give contrast, without the use of different colors.  I tried to make sure I incorporated lots of texture in the cake frosting, through the use of popcorn, in the candies, etc. Another element I used, along with varying textures, was to create varying heights in this table.  Although this table doesn't incorporate a lot of taller elements, I used the cake as the focal point and the ferns to help draw the eye up a bit.  Other food items, like the donut holes, candies, and popcorn gave a smaller, but much needed, “lift” as well.

 

This table was so fun to put together, and I was really happy with how everything turned out.  I love how a dessert table will take any party to an entirely new level.  I hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I did creating it!

{Table} Halloween in a Box

Bridal Dessert Table

We've been very busy putting together this dessert table for the bridal fair this weekend.  It’s been a wonderful collaborative effort by all the girls. Heather took care of the fabulous photography, the pudding cups, and helped me out with some of the other desserts. Emily made the amazing boxes. Kelly, Erin’s sister, created this amazing cake, and Erin provided the entire backdrop and our ticket into the bridal fair. We are really hoping that this table will "shine" at the show and spark a lot of interest from all the anxious brides.

The table was inspired by just about anything sparkly.  From the backdrop and the brooches on the cake, to the mirrored platforms and boxes, I tried to add a little shimmer and shine to the whole table.  What girl doesn't love a little sparkle in her life?
